Why not read a book! If you thought movies and television shows could get spooky, just wait until you get your hands on some of these books.

1. It by Stephen King

If you thought the movie was scary, wait until you read the book.

It by Stephen King is possibly one of his most famous novels to this day. The novel revolves around a terrifying clown named Pennywise, who let’s just say enjoys eating human flesh? And kidnaps small boys?

If you’re scared of falling into the gutters or clowns in general, why not take this time in quarantine and read this BIG book. The book is enormous and will most likely take a chunk of time to finish.

If you’re not feeling the physical book, check out the audiobook.

2. Pretty Girls by Karin Slaughter

This book has been deemed by many as one of the goriest books they’ve ever read. I’ve had this book on my bookshelf for months and haven’t read it yet, however, I’m excited to get into it as soon as possible

The book tells the story of two estranged sisters who continue to struggle some time later after the death of their sister. Suddenly one of the girls husband dies, many feel as though both deaths, decades apart, have nothing to do with each other. Claire and Lydia feel differently and come together to find out what’s killing the people they love most.

It seems innocent, doesn’t it? The title says “Pretty Girls”, so it can’t be that scary. WRONG. Apparently this book has made it to many booktubers Scariest Books to Read videos.

3. Dark Matters by Blake Crouch

This book wins the award for most promising plot in this list.

“Jason Dessen is walking home through the chilly Chicago streets one night, looking forward to a quiet evening in front of the fireplace with his wife, Daniela, and their son, Charlie—when his reality shatters.

It starts with a man in a mask kidnapping him at gunpoint, for reasons Jason can’t begin to fathom—what would anyone want with an ordinary physics professor?—and grows even more terrifying from there, as Jason’s abductor injects him with some unknown drug and watches while he loses consciousness.

When Jason awakes, he’s in a lab, strapped to a gurney—and a man he’s never seen before is cheerily telling him “welcome back!”

Jason soon learns that in this world he’s woken up to, his house is not his house. His wife is not his wife. His son was never born.

And someone is hunting him” (Summary from Goodreads)

I read the back of this book and sprinted to the Barnes and Noble cashier. A thriller about a man who has no recollection of what his life is? Count me in!

4. Gone Girl by Gillian Flynn

The thriller with one of the best plot twists of all time. Gone Girl is the terrifying novel by Gillian Flynn that revolves around a man named Nick, who’s wife goes missing. As the police begin to investigate this disappearance, many believe Nick is the one who had something to do with his wife’s disappearance. But does he really have the capability to off his wife?

The book is similar to The Woman in The Window, where the novel is beautifully written and makes any reader rip their hair out with encompassing mystery.

This thriller novel has been sweeping the nation in the past few weeks. It’s a new book with a killer plot.

The novel is a psychological thriller told by a therapist who’s obsessed with uncovering the reason why his silent patient killed her husband.

The point of view makes this novel so great. And many say that the uncovering of what really happened makes it truly terrifying.

6. Lock Every Door by Riley Sager

I’ve read and loved this book with my whole heart. Lock Every Door is a fun thriller/mystery about a girl who’s paid to house-sit for this mysterious individual. All she has to do is live in their apartment and receive a large sum of money. Seems…okay? Little does she know that there’s something devious going on in this apartment building.

The book is great because like many others in this list you’re on the edge of your seat the entire time. I will admit, without giving away anything, that this is a book that will make you hate and love the main character.

One of the most obvious questions you’ll be asking is “Girl, Why the heck are you still in the apartment?”. I would have made a run for it a long time ago.

Wrapping Up!

We’ve come to the end..again? It seems like every-time I start talking about books I love we come to the end of the post.

No worries though, I’ll be back! For now let me know what your favorite thriller novel is?

Love this? Share it with the world!
