New YA Books: 9 September 2021 Releases To Grab
August is almost over and summer is slowly fading, which means for book lovers like us lots more time for reading! While others are starting to feel sad about it being cold outside and being stuck indoors, I’m excited!
What better way to prepare for the “season of reading”, as I like to call it, than by stocking up on some new releases! September does not disappoint in the YA department. I’ve been on the hunt and in this blog post, we will be discussing 9 September releases that should be added onto your TBR list ASAP!
Notable YA Release on September 7th 2021
The Last Legacy by Adrienne Young (Sep 7th)
The Last Legacy is a standalone YA novel, that comes to you from New York Times Bestselling author Adrienne Young. This book centers around Bryn, her struggles with the realization that her estranged family is not to be trusted. She must decide who she wants to be in life while navigating her way through a thick web of lies.
Act Cool by Tobly McSmith (Sep 7th)
Act Cool is the second novel written by Tobly McSmith, it’s a contemporary LGBT novel that follows a trans teen August Greene on his journey to becoming an actor. With less than supportive parents August, they agree to let him stay with his Aunt in the city under one condition, a condition that holds August back from what he truly wants. This is a motivating book of discovery that promotes being true to yourself even if it means making hard decisions.
Among Thieves by M.J. Kuhn (Sep 7th)
This fantasy novel is perfect for lovers of magic and a little thievery! Riya is a woman on the run, far from helpless she has earned quite the reputation and is quick to react blade first. White Smoke by Tiffany D. Jackson (Sep 14th)
Looking for a spooky book? White Smoke is all that and more. If you’re obsessed with haunted houses this psychological thriller is a must on your TBR list! It follows Marigold and her Mother as they relocate to a misleading sunny beach town in California. Her troubled past is not the only thing lurking around there.
Defy the Night (Defy the Night #1) by Brigid Kemmerer (Sep 14th)
Defy the night is the first in a brand fantasy young adult series by New York Times bestselling author Brigid Kemmerer. The Kingdom of Kandala is being run by two frightened brothers who have taken to executing any villagers who pose a “threat” to the thrown. Life has become unbearable and Tessa has had enough. The Hawthorne Legacy (The Inheritance Games #2) by Jennifer Lynn Barnes (Sep 14th)
The highly anticipated sequel to The Inheritance Games is finally upon us! Luckily for us, I don’t think it’s going to disappoint. Book number two promises even more scandal, action-packed, fast past reading as the Hawthorne family is determined to get Avery out of the picture. Avery must find out the truth and keep herself breathing all at the same time.
Young Adult Releases To Look Forward to On September 28th 2021
Once Upon a Broken Heart by Stephanie Garber (Sep 28th)
Stephanie Garber, the author of the Caraval series, has done it again! In her new series, Once Upon a Broken Heart, she introduces us to Evangeline Fox and a mysterious immortal being, known as the Prince of Hearts. Beasts of Prey by Ayana Gray (Sep 28th)
Ayana Gray is making a big splash in the Young Adult book community with her first book, Beasts of Prey! Beasts of Prey follows two teenagers, Koffi, and Ekon bound in an effort to find a viscous magically beast and rid their world of it. With two separate motives, kept hidden there is sure to be intrigue, conflict, and an epic journey ahead for the pair.
Drawn That Way by Elissa Sussman (Sep 28th!)
Hayley Staffitz has dreams, big ones! As an aspiring animation director, she already feels the pressure as a girl trying to get into a male-dominated industry. So when she is given an elusive spot in a summer animation program she plans to pursue an internship that would all but seal her career.
